Kirk’s award in the 2027 Best Lawyers rankings joins his recent award as a Rising Star in the 2026 Managing IP IP STARS rankings and Kirk’s recognition as a finalist (for his development of PatentAgility) in an AI pitch competition at Amazon’s HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia.
About Kirk Sigmon
Kirk Sigmon, one of KellDann’s founding partners and its chief innovation attorney, is a worldwide authority on artificial intelligence law, patent law, intellectual property law, technology law, video game law, and other topics. Kirk originally began his legal career in Tokyo and was involved in major cases, including Apple v. Samsung and multi-billion-dollar cybersecurity patent disputes. Kirk is also the developer of PatentAgility, KellDann’s free, local, and open-source patent analysis toolkit. Kirk recently completed a Master’s of Engineering in Computer Engineering at Dartmouth College, where he developed (among other things) an open-source resource-efficient neural network-based electrocardiogram sensor for atrial fibrillation classification and heart rate extraction as well as a real-time audio processing system using a AMD Zynq™-7000 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).
